Managing director

A newly launched innovative security services company is looking for a Managing Director to lead its strategy and build, run and scale its operations. The company is part of a fast growing group holding that is building a chain of businesses in key sectors in Africa with operations currently spanning renewable energy and real estate. We are building a social impact business that will create unique employment opportunities for underserved communities by providing thorough training and offering attractive professional development. The role will be based in central Accra with potential regional travel as the company expands.

You will assemble and lead the team that delivers excellence across all the functions to deliver excellent security services to clients and build an effective organization with satisfied employees, including operations, marketing and business development and talent development.  


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead strategy development and implementation plans to achieve the company’s mission; set strategic objectives and measurable goals across the organisation

  • Oversee the business operations; build systems and processes that contribute to making the business scalable and cost efficient

  • Lead a team of passionate, talented and diverse people and empower them to do their best and create/champion our unique culture

  • Implement the performance management system, monitor and evaluate company’s performance and social impact

  • Drive financial P&L of the business and manage financial performance

  • Build and manage key stakeholder relationships including a network of leaders and decision-makers in the local community - partners, government bodies, providers, media etc.

  • Report to the senior management of the Group and work with them to align strategic priorities to achieve the overall mission


Job requirements

  • Undergraduate degree, preferably business-related

  • Master’s degree, MBA from a leading institution preferred

  • Minimum of 5 years’ of business work experience with 2+ years of direct leadership experience required

  • Knowledge of the security services industry preferred; Passionate interest in using innovation and technology to transform security services industry and fuel growth

  • Experience in consumer businesses and services beneficial; experience in a startup or dynamic operational environment where you were happy to problem solve and devise solutions on the go beneficial

  • Strong leadership abilities: ability to influence and motivate an organization and manage a diverse range of stakeholder relationships including those with senior management

  • Entrepreneurial, creative, innovative, proactive mindset, ability to take ownership of targets and seeking opportunities for improvement/growth

  • A data-driven decision making approach and sound business judgment achieved through a strong analytical mindset

  • Professional demeanor, excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication skills (in English) and attention to detail

  • At least 2 years of experience in an emerging market, preferably in Ghana/West Africa
